History
Named a “Best Hometown” by Ohio Magazine, Loveland is located near exit 52 off Interstate 275, about 15 miles northeast of Cincinnati. Once a busy railroad town, Loveland is now a major stop along the Little Miami Scenic Trail. Incorporated 1876. the city is named after James Loveland, who operated a general store and post office near the railroad tracks downtown.
In its early days, Loveland was known as a resort town, with its summer homes for the wealthy, earning it the nickname “Little Switzerland of the Miami Valley.” The area is well known for its peaches and strawberries.
Loveland has been designated a Tree City by the National Arbor Day Foundation and has won the America in Bloom nationwide competition.
Loveland Bike Trail
Running through the middle of downtown Loveland is the ‘car-free’ Loveland Bike Trail. Bikers and walkers wander through the relaxing trail catching a glimpse of native birds, butterflies, and blooms. Stop off for some ice cream or grab a bite at one of the bistros along the trail.
The Loveland Bike Trail is part of the Little Miami Scenic Trail – the third longest paved trail in the United States running 78.1 miles through five southwestern Ohio counties.
Little Miami River
The Little Miami River is a National Scenic River that flows through five counties in southwestern Ohio and joins the Ohio River east of Cincinnati.
The river is popular among recreational paddlers and anglers. The smallmouth bass fishing is among the best in the state. Visitors may see a variety of wildlife including several varieties of ducks, Canadian geese, blue herons, turtles, butterflies, and lots of plant life.

Weekly Farmer's Market
Loveland hosts a wonderful farmers market for local farmers, cottage industry vendors, and artisans can share their products directly to the public. The market runs weekly from 3:00pm – 7:00pm Tuesdays from May-October.
Festivals and Fireworks
JulyFest, SymmesFest, and local church festivals are held annually during the summer months. Fireworks displays by Rozzi’s Famous Fireworks of nearby Symmes Township are a staple at such events.
Landmarks / Attractions
The Loveland area is home to several landmarks including the Loveland Castle and Museum, Shield’s Crossing, and the Gothic-style William Johnston House. Loveland also has a local stage company.
